Appreciate the content and the nuance. The narrative I bought was this FSU team was every bit as talented and ready as last year's team. And like you said, the decline in talent is across the board and not specific to DJ.
It'll be interesting to see how the team rallys around one another since their initial goal, the playoff, is realistically out of reach.
Much appreciated! Yeah, the team just isn't that good. Guys are in DJ's lap on a 3-step from shotgun, that's wild. No run game. Drops galore. Just a very mid effort in every phase.
Okay Felder, maybe the issue is twofold here. First perhaps the supporting cast around DJ U last year at Oregon State was pretty good. The Beavs had Damien Martinez at running back and a top 25 team until the season unraveled under realignment at the tail end. If you look at two of the Beavs best wins last year, DJ U average over 8 yards per attempt against Utah and UCLA. So what was going last year. I think PAC 12 opposing defenses had to sellout to stop the run, so then play action really worked and he ample time after the fake to stand tall and deliver a strike on a short to medium route. Second, I suspect that Jonathan Smith than Mike Norvell did a better job game planning around DJ U’s limitations. I don’t think Smith would ask DJ U to win the game for him like Norvell does now. I think he is more a piece of the puzzle guy rather than the whole solution
Yeah, I think you're right and I wish people would stop piling on DJ and realize it is a confluence of bad that got all of this happening. He wasn't great but neither was the WR/TE group and the OL was bad. Gameplan isn't ideal and when try to force it you just lose. Oh and defense didn't do them any favors.

Always the elite read! Thank you Felder! Keep grinding bro
Much appreciated
