Those corndogs look so good. A question from a fireman's kid: do you soak the skewers before you fry them? Obviously saving this one to my "Felder's Substack Recipe" collection and want to do as much as possible to not burn our house down.
I do soak them. But what I've really found is the skewers are more likely to catch on fire on the grill than in the grease. So I only soak them a bit and then skewer because I also don't want the water in the fryer which creates big pops from the grease.

Oooh, good point. The water/grease popping about does me in every time I fry, so good to know to be prepared haha
