ACC Media Days Questions

Question 1 (For Cal Players)

From one outside observer at last year’s Big Game against Stanford , I saw the Cal football team take the field minutes before kickoff with #14 carrying the Axe Trophy. I thought it was pretty cool like the Crusaders holding up a holy relic while facing the Saracens. (Yeah I must of played too much Age of Empires when I was younger) My question is how do you guys pick the guy who carries the axe? 🪓

Question 2 (For Cal Coach Justin Wilcox)

Last year, Cal lost two games where they scored forty points or more and still lost. How much of last year’s defensive struggles were due to the caliber of QB’s like Penix, Nix, Caleb Williams, DJ U, and Cam Ward faced and how much was due to short comings of the Cal players and coaches? What is being done from spring ball forward to tighten up the defensive side of the ball for the Bears this year in terms of personnel and scheme?

Question 3 (For Stanford Coach Troy Taylor)

In many ways, the PAC 12 was a quarterback’s league. This made pass protection, edge rushing, cornerback coverage, and wide receivers getting open very important. How do you see the ACC than the PAC 12 as being different in terms of style of play and crucial execution? What phases of the game does the Stanford Cardinal need to improve the most in 2024 to be competitive in the ACC?

Question 4 (For Stanford Coach Troy Taylor)

You have a very unique perspective in college football in that you started at quarterback for Cal but then went on to be the Head Coach at Stanford. It would be like Jim Harbaugh coaching at Ohio State. So my question is under the veneer of academic professionalism and intellectual seriousness, the two schools really hate each other right?

Question 5 (For Florida State DJ Uiagalelei)

After attending two of Oregon State games last year, I thought that DJ U had grown up a lot when compared to the freshman quarterback that I saw on TV for Clemson. Notably his pocket presence, decision making and knowing the right time to run with it all improved dramatically. What does he attribute his increased maturity as a quarterback to? Oh yeah, kudos to DJ U for being last guy off the field after the post game handshake. Good sportsmanship is admirable.

Question 6 (For Clemson Coach Dabo Sweeney)

As one of thirty thousand secular Bay Area college football fans, how should I interpret your religiosity? How should we see you? Is the answer as a remarkable football coach, builder of winning cultures or something else?
