4 Hard Downs: Sicko Kiddo, Kickoff is Coming, New Shoes
Pool Break, Barrett Carter, ACC Media Day Prep and More
We hosted a movie night day this Saturday and it was great. Some folks were no-shows, which is fine, especially when they make the executive decision of, “my kid has been awful all day, we’ll deal with this at home and not make other people deal with it.”
Screened “In & Out” a movie I still don’t understand, and that’s fine because I have not paid attention to a second of it over the multiple times I’ve seen it. Also showed the kids’ my neighbor’s garden. Very cool to see 3 six year old girls be super excited about plants growing and asking questions.
Now, we’re back into work mode because media days are coming and I’m doing it all while dealing with an exhausted kid who has been in the sun far too long, so let’s go ahead and SPOT THE BALL!!!
1st Down: The Pool Ain’t Cool
Literally.
Last week the heat index was over 100 for a couple of days. Days where my wife and kid spent anywhere from 4 to 7 hours at the pool. On top of a June of two swim meets a week that were double dipping at the pool.
By double dip, I mean, 4 pool hours in the daytime, home to change and pack up for the swim meet and then back to the pool, including away meets, from 5 until 9.
It caught up to her in a big way. The heat never loses.
This makes me think about summer in the south and football in the south and what is about to happen post-media days when camp starts for those guys out there. Stay hydrated.
Anyways, we’re on a no pool today day.
2nd Down: Speaking Of Media Days
I will be at The ACC Kickoff with Learfield and I have two jobs, putting together good questions to help the guys I’m working with grab some content and pulling some of my media friends to talk about what they’re seeing and hearing.
We don’t have the player availability list out yet, but anything you want to be included or are curious about, drop it in the comments.
3rd Down: New Shoes Coming
Over the last several months I have been on the hunt for Nike Pegasus 38 and the only size they never have is mine, 12.5. 13 will give me blisters. 12 will aggrivate my big toe. I require 12.5.
Enter the FlyEase. Easy on and off. Don’t need to tie them (which I never will). I like the color, granted my co-hosts don’t love them at all. So here they are:
I tried the 39s and the 40s and sent them both back. The Shield 40s I did keep because they are a good alternative to the 38s when it is raining and wet out. They should be here end of the week and I’m excited to take them out for a spin.
4th Down: Barrett Carter Is My Man For ACC Media Days
He can do this:
He can do this:
Obviously, thanks ESPN/ACC Net
Shout out to the guy I’ve called the biggest win, for a school, from the portal an the NFL Draft. They lost so many players on defense to the draft, a handful of guys to the portal and Carter decided, I’m going to comeback and take control.
He makes run fits. He can be a part of the blitz packages. He is a sure tackler. Moves well laterally. Cleans up messes.
Which might be the best part.
This is going to be a young Clemson defense. Him cleaning up the mess is going to be a huge deal. Young guys are athletic and ambitious. However, they don’t always know what to do and that is going to be where Barrett makes his hay and proves his worth as a returning starter.
I’m sorry this is late, I have been watching “Little Giants” with my kid who is, as I mentioned, sick. But hey, we got a podcast tomorrow and we got 4 Hard Downs today.
Cheers!!
