I talk to my wife a lot about football. She is a skinny lady who sees the things these men do and often wonders, “why would you do that, you might get hurt?!”

My daughter and I watched the first half of the Super Bowl together and she constantly said, “Well wouldn’t that not feel good.”

We have a neighbor who got whiplash skiing and I told her, “you’re fine, this is nothing.”

What I’ve realized over time is that violence is not just a part of this game, it is the game. You either embrace it as a player, or you run from it. Quarterbacks run away from violence (unless you’re Will Levis). (Most) Wide Receivers run away from violence. Every other position runs to violence.

Wants to create violence. Wants to be the cause of the crash and not someone who receives the blow.

Violence is an intrinsic part of this game.

Now, this must be stated, there is a humongous gap between VIOLENCE and MALICIOUS.
