Tuesday Play Tracking: Reaching A Point Of No Return
As we hit Week 10, you are who you are, probably barring some insane overtime games
This is coming to you from NYC, I am set to co-host the reaction show to the CFP Rankings this week on the B/R App but also streaming via MAX, the artist formerly known as HBO Max. Tune in, we’re going to have some fun.
So, last week first:
To this week:
We can get the bye weeks for Michigan, LSU and Texas Tech out of the way, no new news here because of no new data. However this weekend against Alabama is going to be very interesting as to whether Jayden Daniels can win back to back games against Alabama.
With that in mind, I also have no clue which way Texas Tech hosting TCU is going to unfold. Both teams have been hyper mercurial this season and if you’re a gambler, just stay away from it.
I do know what to expect from Michigan against Purdue and that is a game for 35 minutes until Michigan wears them out.
Now, on to the changes.
-Miami went to overtime and still played more plays than they were averaging thanks to Virginia’s style but less time.
-Army played the exact amount of plays as their average so no change for them.
-WKU is showing us that thanks to having so many data points entering Week 10 it is really hard to move the average if you are just a few plays under or over.
I think that’s what we’ve really learned during this experiment. Judgements can wait until season’s end, but I do think this entering Week 10 moment is where you are who you are. It is basically going to take some monumental swings for them to make anything more than minor incremental movement to the plays numbers.
As for the time, New Mexico is the only one of the seven teams that is defying the idea that rules changes can help shorten the games. So good on this 3-5 team just absolutely staring the new rules in the face and saying, “Not Us. Not Today.”
Make sure you tune into the show tonight via the app or Max!
Cheers!!!
