An Evolving Idea But An Enduring Thing

When I hear “The Box” and my first thought is this concert video: Roddy Ricch in London having folks go crazy:

I also refer to my house as “The Box” in which I live. Especially regarding the pool when it is 90 degrees and real feel is 97+ on that deck, “I want to go back to ‘The Box’ that has air conditioning.” The A/C is running while I’m at the pool, I could be enjoying it because I have beer at home.

However, in this case, “The Box” references players in the box with respect to football and how it keeps evolving.

That’s the classic box against a Cover-3 defense where defenses are looking to smother the run by out manning the offense; 8 to 7. That pic is what we called “Flex Zone to Y” where Strong Safety is the hanger with contain and creates an 8 man box. Run if you want, every gap is covered and as long as we don’t mess up there will be minimal gain.
