4 Hard Downs: Sorry, but I am back & I have a reason for the absence and will make it up to you!
NFL Draft, Luggage Troubles, Travel Problems, Very Hurt Shoulder & More
I appreciate you all sticking with me during these hectic times. I apologize for being absent, as I return from this harrowing time, I hope you will respect my truly destroyed how ruined things were.
Should have done that on the notes app.
Anyways, on a serious note this is the first of two 4 Hard Downs for this week, first detailing then events of the last few week of life. The second, to actually get into NFL Draft stuff, some news and some cooking.
But for now, please revel in my remarkable tale of how amazing my last weeks have been!!
As always, except last week, SPOT THE BALL!!!
1st Down: The LA Situation
I was supposed to be at a wedding for a dear friend on Friday the 19th. In the airport, asking my dad and mom to look after my kid, flight gets canceled.
Not delayed.
Not postponed.
Canceled.
(no soup for you)
Basically yes.
So missing Martin’s wedding was the start of the suck.
2nd Down: The Baggage Situation
We went home.
My mom and dad didn’t have to watch our kid. Good. We missed the wedding. Bad.
We also missed our bag.
Basically, I wanted to stay out of the way for the people who needed to get back to California after traveling to the East Coast. Bag time was 2-4 hours. Get their bags first and I, as a person who lives in this city, can just pick mine up tomorrow.
Wrong.
When I got to the airport at 9am on Friday it was in the air to Austin, Texas. Then to LAX. Amazing.
Truly.
I fly to NYC and I inquire about the bag, “oh do you want it here?” “Yes, where I live? yes.” “We can have it back for you to pick up and take home when you land Sunday.”
“Perfect”
Wait for it…
“Your bag is about to go to the warehouse in Atlanta because it is crossing the 5 day threshold, so we have to fly it to Atlanta for storage.”
Enter my wife having to drive to the airport for this because their best option is “take it to Atlanta and then fly it back up when I ask for it,” instead of leaving a bag they never should have taken away from where it already was.
3rd Down: Anxiety City
Y’all, I basically had to delete this whole thing because it was a rant, that if you’re smart, you’ll figure it out from the 4th down. But…yeah. Podcast coming tomorrow, a free and a premium about the draft and what not.
4th Down: Do Your Job Because, “That’s What The Money’s For”
I don’t like surprises or wild cards.
At all.
If it ain’t fully mapped out then it don’t really map out for me.
So in a day, built in the last few weeks, over the last few months, raised on years that make a lifetime of control and understanding a situation, I got thrown a curve.
I handled it. But whew, I didn’t love it. But I’m a pro.
Real ones knew. No one else noticed.
So, yeah, that’s life.
Cheers!!
❤️️❤️️❤️️ So very sorry you had to deal with surprises and wild cards and things not going right. That's not at all good.
Truly hope you catch a break sometime soon - nobody deserves it more than you
