4 Hard Downs: More Smart Football, Hot Dogging, Fitz & Being Buff
Got to talk to Christian Fitzpatrick & Braylon Edwards plus Camp Style hot dogs
It is March y’all!! We are having a birthday party to end the month for my kiddo and I’ve got some real adult shit happening between then and now. Got to watch the combine and I can tell you what being buff is wild.
I’ve been buff.
And by that I mean I was mostly the weakest player on a team full of folks taught by Jeff Connors. I was the strongest man at the YMCA when I was doing workouts before my internship with Pulte; but also weakest man on my football team (Except for power cleans, I was good at that).
Coming out of the combine we gotta talk football, being strong, plus I did make hot dogs buns, so let’s SPOT THE BALL!!!
1st Down: Again Football Players Study
Not always some dumb bullshit “weather and climate” class or “rocks for jocks” geology class. Or whatever language, be it Portuguese or Swahili or Spanish.
When you want to be the big dog on the block. The one delivering punishment, not the one who has things “happen to them” then you study. Love that knowing the road to the Super Bowl went through Peyton in some shape or form. With the Steelers Ray knew he had to be tough, with Peyton he had to be smart.
And he did it.
2nd Down: A WR1 Talking To An Aspiring WR1
This was an awesome discussion between Braylon Edwards and Christian Fitzpatrick where I got to be a fly on the wall.
Edwards talking about knowing the game plan is to run. More importantly knowing the way you have to understand that and still give effort. Football has changed and the WRs have to change with it.
3rd Down: Strong For No Reason
This man set an insane record
He is so freaking strong for no reason. Same as this man…
College makes you a monster.
The NFL hones those skills so you work on things that make you better.
There a lot of Ferraris and Lambos out there; I was never one of them. In the words of my DB room, I was a hooked up Prelude who was better than stock but couldn’t run with the rest.
Both of these guys are monsters. But it matters who is driving and guiding the machine and that is what we will get into this week, because being this big and fast and strong for no reason can be a real problem if you can’t hone the skills.
4th Down: Speaking Of Hot Dogs
We had some open fire hot dogs on homemade buns this weekend.
My kid loved them. My wife loved them.
My wife is The Prodigy of our relationship, THE FIRESTARTER
Seriously, she is great at it.
I don’t even touch the stuff (outside of the torch and charcoal and smoker and the other smoking and grilling stuff)
Your boy makes the buns. They fire roast the dogs. We have a meal and it is game on.
Cheers!!!
