4 Hard Downs: Easter Egg Hunts, Will Anderson Is Player One & My Issues
Your Boy Did Easter, Keep It Simple Stupid on Will Anderson, Kliff doing what he do and me too
We are coming out of the holiday weekend and I am coming off a week that was truly not normal. We had houseguests. I started a new daily show over at Stadium talking NFL Draft. I lost my bathroom to the previously mentioned houseguests.
Now, we’re back to normal. No houseguests. Daily show is still going through the draft, but I like to work, so that is a good thing. As I write this, I’ve got tomatoes on the grill to make sauce today.
And I love making sauce.
Sheet pan filled with tomatoes, slice the top off some garlic and wrap it in foil and throw it on. Roast those off. Going to make my herb baggy in cheesecloth, squeeze out my garlic and add some red wine and let it work its magic. Immersion blender and smooth it out and freeze.
After a hectic week, this is my therapy for sure.
So, let’s get into it, SPOT THE BALL!!!
1st Down: Instagram Is Great For Projects!!
My instagram algorithm is my everything. It serves me cooking. It serves me comedy. It serves me gardening.
It also serves me some good ass projects to do with kids or for kids. Here’s a gif of the things I’ve sent to myself to do with my kid.
So Easter hits and we’re coming off a hectic weekend and I break out the saved and hit two of them joints on the head to save the day. Cool Whip egg dying and Card Stock Bunny.
Here’s our card stock bunny:
Trace your hand. Cut off the middle finger. Fold down the pinky and the thumb. Color it in and bang, you have a nice greeter to go into your easter basket for a kid.
And here are the whipped cream, tie-dye eggs:
Cool whip and food coloring. My kid is particular, so instead of doing the big pan that the video shoes, I did individual mugs so the colors were isolated. Not as much of the swirl and tie-dye that they did in the video but it worked for me and my family. ROYGBIV for life!
2nd Down: Will Anderson Is Not A Project
This is my favorite play from the EDGE rusher from Alabama this year.
And he didn’t even get a stat for this.
This dude is ready to step in a make plays. If you trade out of the Top 3 or Top 4, you don’t deserve him. He is better than every quarterback in the draft. He is the best player. He is going to step on to the field and be a hoss.
Eats three on this play and frees up two linebackers to make the tackle for loss.
I think he is the most sure thing in the 2023 draft. Also, I drew it up on the paid feed and talked a bit more about just this play.
3rd Down: Kliff Kingsbury to USC
Lincoln Riley is working on making sure Caleb Williams in the number one pick. He’s brought in the guy who coached Patrick Mahomes in college and Kyler Murray in the NFL and wasn’t a great head coach but has been very good at working with his QBs.
He’s never been a great head coach, but Kingsbury has always been good with offensive design and QB production.
Murray was a guy who was the Offensive Rookie of the Year, 2-time Pro Bowler under the tutelage of Kingsbury. Mahomes was a first round pick, and Texas Tech’s only pick that season.
Basically, allowing him to hone in on QB and work with Riley on the offense takes so much off his plate, he can get back to what he is good at doing; coaching QBs.
Good for him, while he gets a buyout and also helps prepare Williams for the NFL.
4th Down: I Can’t Change Scripts Or Plans Built In Pre-Production
The Jeffrey Okudah trade happened when I was in the middle of the mock draft for the B/R app; where I gave the Falcons a cornerback. The Odell Beckham to Ravens move happened after I already sent my stuff to graphics, including Ravens getting a WR.
I am not in charge of the fast paced news, graphics building or any of it.
So I’m sorry.
I don’t care if it is ESPN, Fox, Stadium, Bleacher Report, The Athletic, local radio or whatever; all places I’ve worked, don’t have a cow man. When you’re hyper focused on the show and have it mapped out, you might miss a breaking news thing. Radio is the easiest pivot. TV and writing are the hardest. Especially with TV where you have to build graphics and have a live schedule.
That’s it. That’s all.
Well, also, I have been doing this for about 15 years and it is how I make a living so maybe just trust me that I’m not an idiot. I was in a pre-pro meeting when a trade happens for a thing I sent in overnight, so yeah, we don’t have it in there. Sorry. But I can promise you the people I work with aren’t stupid and that’s the most important part to me. Good folks working here, but if you’re building a thing then you’re not checking the wire.
Anyways…
Cheers!!!
