4 Hard Downs: B/R Shows, Football Isn't For Everyone
It has been great to work with Adam Kramer again, Good advice but not real plus being happy for Aaron Donald
We had a houseguest but we are back on track with the pool. ACC Media Days are coming up and I finally got the list of attendees so I will be dialing into the specific questions for coaches and players while we’re on radio row.
I’ll get a few shots to talk to some coaches, hit specifics, talk about conference moves, bringing new energy to the league and talking about transfer portal and some thoughts about scheduling and the new playoff.
So, that’s coming up, let’s go ahead and SPOT THE BALL!!!!
1st Down: Two Shows Talking Ball With A Buddy
I am back at it for B/R, and I get to do the shows with Adam Kramer aka KegsNEggs on Twitter. We started working together in 2008 and it is just really nice to work with a friend who knows when I zig, he zags and we feed off each other.
We ranked the best teams to start a dynasty in the new EA CFB game on Tuesday. Then we also, on Monday we hit up the toughest atmospheres in the CFB world and discussed the actual EA rankings of “toughest places to play.”
2nd Down: People Can’t Just Decide To Play Football
I will put this in perspective for you…
I have all the faculties to be a stock car driver (or truck series or whatever).
I also hate going fast.
Period.
So I can’t do it. Which leads me to this video:
Nasir Rankins can do both.
However most of these basketball players who seem like they’d be good TEs, DEs, WRs are allergic to contact. Charles Barkley, a legendary “tough guy” in the NBA mentioned being at football practice for a day of pads and just quitting
In theory, sure, but as Marshawn Lynch mentions:
Outside of QB and WR, every play is just how can I hurt this guy across the line from me. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…and over and over and over and over and over again.
I used to run full speed into a 520 lbs double team everyday in practice and it was my favorite part. My wife thinks I’m a lunatic, and my friends are lunatics because we loved it.
Relished it.
Your 6’4” point guard that’s hooping isn’t enjoying that in the same way.
Just facts. Great idea, but again, football ain’t for everyone.
3rd Down: Football Was For Aaron Donald, Until It wasn’t
I love that he realized, I’m good, I’m done. Love it for him and now he can pursue other interests or, honestly, just relax.
He poured everything he had into this sport and is one of my favorite players, from college to the NFL. He was obsessive with his workouts and taking care of his body day-to-day.
Now, he gets to not be tired.
4th Down: Being Tired
Hopefully Donald is not tired; but I’m very tired.
This is another post to end the week, but a preview now, I’m on day 369 of moving at least 1 mile a day. Most of it is running but sometimes my wife is out of town and it is me and my kid so we go fishing or walk around the block and pick up trash.
But we do a mile for that as well.
That post has been a long one in the making and I will get into all of my journey!
Cheers!!!
Felder, your Substack is one of my favorites and it always makes me smile. Thank you so much.
